How Long Will Twitter Be The Next Big Thing

Right now, everyone is talking about twitter. I mean everyone. The mass media is on the Twitter bandwagon and “Twitter” may become a household word even faster than “Google” did.

The question is how long it can last. Is Twitter a permanent feature of the internet landscape, or is it a fad that’s destined to disappear in short order?

It’s impossible to answer that question definitively, of course. If there’s one thing we know about the Internet, it’s that unpredictability is an ever-present force.

That being said, there’s good reason to believe that Twitter can continue to be a major force for some time to come. It’s only now reached the greater public consciousness and the statistical evidence suggests that it won’t reach it’s apex of popularity for some time.

You can’t necessarily bank on Twitter as a big thing forever, but you can certainly assume that you have a serious chunk of time with which to work before it slides into some kind of irrelevance–it if ever does.
